Job purpose

This role is to support the Health & Safety/Environmental Manager, training and administrative activities of the Green Business Centre.  The applicant must have a keen interest in H&S/environmental/energy issues and how they are applied to the workplace.  An interest in marketing and research would also be of benefit. Lead Environmental Auditor training will be provided by the Green Business Centre.

The Green Business Centre undertakes environmental/Health & Safety audits and project work, provides health & safety/environmental legislation support and delivers environmental training.  We have been successfully supporting a wide variety of public and private sector organisations for over 13 years.

Key responsibilities

Typical duties will include: ·      

  • ·       Development of and provision of health and safety/environmental legislation information to clients.  

    ·       Provision of environmental / occupational health & safety consultancy and health & safety/environmental management system support.

    ·       Leading environmental / OH&S audits including report writing.

    ·       Development and preparation of training material, including course manuals and presentations/slides.

    ·       Assist in delivery LCM subscriber membership and access to the LCM platform.

    ·       Assist in delivery of development and maintenance of the LCM platform.

    ·       Identify and develop marketing strategies to increase the number of LCM subscribers.

    ·       Assist with the administration of H&S/environmental audits including booking in audits, sending out audit plans and typing up audit reports.

    ·       Preparation and emailing out of the monthly Legal Compliance Manager e-newsletter.

    • Assist in desk-based research to identify and contact potential Green Business Centre clients

    ·       Assist with the updating of information on Green Business Centre websites.

    ·       There will be an expectation to undertake general office duties and support the team in all aspects of work at the Green Business Centre.

Person specification and essential requirements ·      

  • ·       Have an Occupational Health and Safety degree or related degree of 2.2.

    Environment related degree may be acceptable dependent on experience.

    Understand H&S/environmental/energy issues affecting businesses.

    Good understanding of H&S and environmental legislation.

  • ·       Have good analytical skills and the ability to interpret and gather data

    ·       Have good organisation and administrative skills

    ·       Have good IT skills particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.

    ·       Have the ability to multi-task (work on more than one project at a time)

    ·       Be a good communicator, with an excellent telephone manner   

    ·       Ability to work on own initiative and with limited supervision

    ·       Facilities to undertake homeworking during any future Covid 19 working restrictions.

    ·       Have energy, enthusiasm and a passion for the environmental sector

    ·       Be fluent in English (written and spoken).

    ·       There is an expectation that the candidate will have to undertake occasional work away from home which will involve overnight stays.  

    ·       Hold a clean driving licence and have access to a car.
